Prince George

Prince George sits where the Fraser and Nechako rivers meet and is northern BC's largest city. The Lheidli T'enneh First Nation has called this area home for generations. What began as a fur trading post in 1807 has grown into a thriving community of around 76,000 people. Today, the city honours its Indigenous roots while offering genuine outdoor culture and frontier charm shaped by its river landscape.
Explore the Ancient Forest's rare inland temperate rainforest by foot, or fish the expansive lakes. During the winter, visitors and locals cross-country ski at Caledonia Nordic and take in the panoramic views at Connaught Hill. Exploration Place Museum highlights First Nations heritage, while Two Rivers Gallery showcases contemporary art. Downtown’s vibe includes local breweries and restaurants celebrating regional ingredients rounding out the Prince George experience. It’s a blend of community culture and pristine wilderness that will keep you captivated and coming back for more.
Summer's long daylight hours invite mountain biking, paddling, and hiking adventures. Fall paints the landscape in golden tones and offers excellent conditions for outdoor exploration, and in winter, cross-country ski trails open up offering glimpses of Northern Lights on clear nights from November through March. Year-round, the farmers market connects you with local producers, and community events celebrate Indigenous traditions and regional culture.
